Alejandro Alfonso : Observations on impermanence - Footprints
Unframed polyptic, signed by artist (35 x 35 cm, 2017, 4 pieces sold altogether)
From a photographic record, the idea of transitoriness and vestiges as evidence of existence are explored. Starting from the premise of constant change, everything that is today will one day no longer be. This idea is recurrent in Eastern philosophies who have understood since ancient times the ephemeral nature of existence. Humanity has sought to transcend these limits of matter and created monuments and structures that remain beyond the limited human timeline but even these will one day disappear.
